A previously unheard track on a new Michael
Jackson album is about child sex abuse.
"The song – which is a new version of a demo
known as Do You Know Where Your Children
Are?" – is one of eight recorded by the late
star to feature on the May release of Xscape .
The lyrics tell of an abused 12-year-old who
runs away from home and turns to
prostitution.
In one verse, Jackson sings: “She wrote that
she is tired of step-daddy using her/Saying
that he’ll buy her things, while sexually
abusing her.”
Some fans believe that the song – which
includes repetition of the phrase, “save me
from this living hell” – was written as a direct
response to sexual abuse claims made against
him.
The singer was twice accused of child sex
abuse while he was alive, and although
nothing was proved he remained dogged by
rumours throughout his career.
Last year, after his death in 2009, dancer
Wade Robson claimed he was molested by the
star. A hearing is scheduled for June.
The new track is part of a collection of songs
revamped by producer Timbaland and Epic
Records chairman L.A. Reid.
It is the second album of the star’s material
to be released since his death.
Reid said: “We are extremely proud and
honoured to present this music to the world.”
The track names are yet to be confirmed.
