Photos: Giant rat bigger than a child found in Hackney, London

, by Laura Ikeji

An extraordinary photo has emerged of a huge 'four-foot rat' found by a gas engineer in London. The picture shows the rodent being held up to the camera after he was found by engineer Tony Smith, while he was working on a block of flats in Hackney, north London.

The giant mutant rat, claimed to weigh upwards of 25lbs, was spotted lying dead in a bush next to a popular children's playground. The rodent was discovered near where children play which backed onto a railway track near Hackney Downs, north London, on Thursday.

Tony snapped a picture of the rat being held by electrician friend James Green, 46, to the glee and disgust of his friends. He said the rat was the same length as a four-year-old boy.

In the picture, Tony is holding the rat close to the camera, making it hard to gauge how big it really is, but he insists it was 4ft long.

"We were going to stick it in the bin, but before we did we thought we better take a picture of people won't believe it's real." He said

Tony explained that the estate where he was working has an infestation of rats, so there is poison left around to catch the enormous creatures.
He said:

"The bins get left open nearby so these little fellas have a pretty good diet."

Android N setting’s will add hamburger menu for easier navigation between sub-menus

, by Laura Ikeji

With MWC 2016 now wrapping up, the next big show is Google I/O 2016, which is set to see the announcement of Android N. Though there’s still a lot we don’t know about the next version of Android, we already are starting to get a rough idea. Probably the biggest change rumored to make its way to N is the lack of an app drawer, but that’s not the only Android N-related gossip to surface this week.

SEE ALSO: ANDROID N FEATURES: EVERYTHING CONFIRMED, RUMORED AND EXPECTED

Yesterday Google posted about Android Support Library v23.2 and included a few screenshots in there. At first glance, nothing seems out of the ordinary, until you realize that there is a hamburger menu found in the Bluetooth settings section. While it’s possible that this could be a special developer build of Marshmallow, Android Police claims that it has verified this will be a feature found in Android N, though we are reaching out to our own sources to see if we can confirm this independently and will update this post if and when we hear back.

So what does this hamburger menu do? Allegedly it opens a side drawer that lists all the settings sections making it much easier to jump back and forth through different settings, without having to return to the main settings. From the sounds of it, this hamburger menu will be available in all sub-settings, though likely not in the main settings as that would prove to be redundant.

For now, we can’t confirm for sure that these screenshots are of Android N, or merely just a test feature that won’t make its way into any public preview. But if it did, would you utilize it, or do you think having a hamburger menu isn’t any faster/easier than just quickly going back to the main settings? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Facebook Messenger, one of the world’s largest messaging apps, has historically been 100% ad-free. However,TechCrunch has uncovered a leaked document intended for Facebook advertiser that reveals plans to begin inserting ads into Messenger in Q2 2016.

TechCrunch isn’t revealing images of the document so as to protect their source, but the details reveal that Messenger will allow companies to send ads as messages to users given that the user has started a chat conversation with the company. This, combined with Facebook’s new URL short link “fb.com/msg/,” which automatically opens up a chat thread with a company when clicked, could quickly make Messenger a powerful advertising platform.

When reached for comment, Facebook said, “We don’t comment on rumor or speculation. That said, our aim with Messenger is to create a high quality, engaging experience for 800 million people around the world, and that includes ensuring people do not experience unwanted messages of any type.” This would seem to imply that Facebook will be putting controls in the hands of their users to limit or stop unwanted interactions with businesses. Well, I mean, they better, or else the pitchforks would be coming out pretty fast.

This ad functionality looks like it can only be initiated by users and never businesses. To begin receiving ads, a user must always be the first to start the conversation. Companies won’t be able to push out ads en masse to Facebookers who merely liked their product page.

These ads could be rolled out as early as April, and Facebook is encouraging businesses to get their consumer base to begin initiating conversations with them so that they can start sending ad messages as soon as the function is available. In the meantime, what do you think of Facebook bringing ads to Messenger? Let us know in the comments below.

Apple's next tablet is reportedly a smaller iPad Pro, not 'iPad Air 3'

, by Laura Ikeji

Rumors have pointed to a new 9.7-inch iPad at Apple's to-be-announced March event, but apparently it's not going to be called the iPad Air 3. 9to5Mac is now reporting that the next iPad will fall under the iPad Pro brand, offering a step-down size from the monstrous 12.9-inch device that Apple released in November. The naming makes sense when you take into account that this iPad will reportedly feature four speakers, the same processor, plus the same amount of RAM as the iPad Pro. Plus, it'll also work with the Apple Pencil.

9to5Mac reports that Apple is preparing a smaller version of its Smart Keyboard accessory for the new iPad, and it'll be closer in price to the existing iPad Air 2 versus the iPad Pro, which starts at $799 and...

Otteh who was a guest speaker at the
inaugural Philip Asiodu Lecture Series, spoke
on the topic: “The proper role of oil in the
context of accelerating growth and
development in Nigeria.” She said that aside
of the fact the country performed lowly in
human capital development, the life
expectancy of Nigeria is 53, adding that is
eight years lower than Ghana and 21-year

She hinted further that 2015 report of

Otteh concluded by saying: “ Given the level
of price uncertainty and Nigeria’s dependence
on oil, it is all the more important to diversify
away from oil

Apple encryption fracas about ‘victims and justice’: FBI chief

, by Laura Ikeji

A court order the US government requested to force Apple to unlock an iPhone linked to the San Bernardino shooting rampage is about “the victims and justice,” FBI Director James Comey said.
In his first public remarks since Apple CEO Tim Cook said he would fight the federal magistrate’s order, Comey said the Justice Department’s request is simply about gaining access to the locked phone.
“We don’t want to break anyone’s encryption or set a master key loose on the land,” Comey said in a posting that appeared on the lawfareblog.org site late Sunday.
Investigators want to hack into an iPhone belonging to the late Syed Farook, a US citizen who along with his wife Tashfeen Malik went on a shooting rampage in San Bernardino, California that killed 14 people on December 2.
Apple claims that cooperating with the FBI probe would undermine overall security for its devices.
“The San Bernardino litigation isn’t about trying to set a precedent or send any kind of message,” Comey said. “It is about the victims and justice.”
According to Comey, the “particular legal issue is actually quite narrow… We simply want the chance, with a search warrant, to try to guess the terrorist’s passcode without the phone essentially self-destructing and without it taking a decade to guess correctly. That’s it.
The phone may or may not hold important clues. “But we can’t look the survivors in the eye, or ourselves in the mirror, if we don’t follow this lead,” he wrote.
This case highlights the new technology that creates “tension between two values we all treasure: privacy and safety. That tension should not be resolved by corporations that sell stuff for a living.
“It also should not be resolved by the FBI, which investigates for a living. It should be resolved by the American people deciding how we want to govern ourselves in a world we have never seen before.”
Finding “the right place, the right balance, will matter to every American for a very long time” said the head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Both Apple CEO Tim Cook and Comey have been invited to testify about encryption on Capitol Hill.

Former Super Eagles coach Clemens Westerhof tells NFF to declare war on Oliseh if Nigeria loses to Egypt

, by Laura Ikeji

Clemens Westerhof dubbed by some as Nigeria's best coach ever, has come out in defence of Super Eagles Head Coach Sunday Oliseh after his 'insane' video rant that caused controversies and problems between him and the NFF, saying he should be forgiven but the NFF should declare a war with Oliseh if he loses the upcoming Nations Cup qualifier against Egypt next March. Read the excerpts of the interview with CompleteSports after the cut...

You have always been passionate about Nigeria, its football and footballers…
-Yes, yes. That is correct. Nigeria has good players; they are playing very well in Europe.

The Super Eagles have an AFCON qualifying match against Egypt in Kaduna on March 25…
-Oh! It will be played in Kaduna, okay. The Super Eagles must win, okay? Of course. They have to win and go to the Nations Cup.

Why are you sounding so optimistic that Nigeria must win?
-The Super Eagles must win, they must play in the Nations Cup. The players are good, there are many of them in Europe and Egypt have not been fantastic lately. (Egypt have failed to qualify for the last three editions of AFCON).

But you have been very critical of coachSunday Oliseh and he’s still in charge of the Super Eagles. Has anything changed?
-No, it’s not whether there is change or not. Nigeria’s Super Eagles are strong. It’s the players that determine if your team is good. Egypt have not been doing well in the Nations Cup. They have not qualified for the Nations Cup for many years and Super Eagles were champions in 2013 with (Stephen) Keshi. Yes, the Super Eagles will be at the Nations Cup.

But Oliseh recently lambasted Nigeria Football Federation and some others for criticizing him. Even though he has apologized, don’t you think this can affect the team?
-I watched Oliseh on television criticize the federation (NFF) after the (CHAN) tournament in Rwanda. That was too bad, to be harsh on your employer. You don’t go to the press and criticize your boss. You are coach, do the job and expect to be criticized; not you doing the criticizing. The coach of the team is criticized when results don’t come but when the criticized is now criticizing, then something is not okay. So you must work harder, you must not talk on TV, so I didn’t like it.
But if he has apologized, well, we move on.

If you were President of NFF, what would you do to Oliseh for his criticisms on the federation and people of Nigeria despite the failure at CHAN in Rwanda?
-You must not go to the television to accost anybody. You must do your part of the job, the contract you signed, do it well. Any issues have to be discussed between you and the federation, not to the newspapers, not the radio or TV! He got it wrong. But again, he has no experience to work at top level.

So what do you think Nigeria should have done, sacked him?
-They should not sack him. They should call him and say, listen my friend, don’t talk in the press, don’t talk on TV, how can you sit on TV and defend yourself when you lost a game. You lost (a crucial game) and all you needed to say was ‘sorry we lost, we need go back to drawing board, to the pitch and work harder for the next game’. The people are right to be angry, to criticize you because you lost.

So the NFF are right to have forgiven him…

-Listen, anybody can make a mistake, let them wait till after the match maybe he can change, it’s okay. If he loses again, then the war is open again.

But he has said ‘please forgive me…’
-He must tell the people ‘we did our best; we’ll work harder’ but not to criticize. In football, there are always people who will criticize you especially when results don’t match their expectations. That makes you as a coach and the team to sit up. That also happened in my time when I was criticized. It’s normal, such criticisms make you work harder, it makes you sharper but it is not up to you to criticize the ‘criticizer’.

So you were as well confronted by Nigerians during your time as Super Eagles coach?
-Oh yes, sometimes. They criticized over players, why did you not invite this player or why did you invite that player.

'Buhari has done very well' - Fr Mbaka...says past governments raped Nigeria

, by Laura Ikeji

Founder and spiritual director of Adoration Ministry Enugu, Nigeria (AMEN), Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka, says President Buhari has done well since he came into office. In an interview with Daily Trust, Fr Mbaka says Buhari's stance on Homosexuality and Corruption is a welcome development. He also said the past government raped Nigeria ..

"It’s too early to judge Buhari, going by what we’ve seen in the past governments. But so far, Buhari has done very well. Look at the case of moral probity, how he, without mincing words, said no to same sex marriage. It’s immoral, it’s unnatural, and it’s un-African. Buhari said it’s not debatable in Nigeria, he said man should marry a woman and a woman should go and be married to a man. This is because, if sodomy and lesbianism and homosexuality are approved in Nigeria, the country will be in trouble. They are worse than economic collapse; because the bedrock of every successful country is her morality. So if Buhari is touching the heart of the country, which is moral probity and enhancing spiritual value, he has succeeded. Number two, look at the issue of Boko Haram; here’s somebody who came to fight terrorism even though there’re skeletal attacks here and there, but the issue of “Boko Haramic” forces operating with flags and taking over some parts of the country, is dead. So, Buhari has succeeded, Kudos to him, no matter how other people are seeing in him, they must learn to see the good part of him. He’s doing his best but Nigerians must do their best, too. Buhari cannot be in Abuja and be in Enugu or be in Ebonyi and be in Nasarawa or Kogi. All of us should be presidents in our own little way. We should clap for him, even if he has not gotten it 100 percent, 98 percent is not a small mark. Now, come to the area of corruption, for the first time, the untouchables in Nigeria are being touched. Courageously, he’s moving like a lion, not to gain anything from it but to save Nigeria from sinking. Take for instance, if it’s not someone like Buhari that’s at the helm of affairs, by now Nigeria would have been a country going for sale, going, going, going…gone. By now, Ghana must be pricing us, Ivory Coast will be pricing us, Cameroon and even Togo would have come to say “how can we buy you people?” But the faith, assurance and guaranty Buhari is giving to the international community is worth more than a lot of things. They see him as a man that’s trustworthy, a man that’s not corrupt, a man that they can invest in his government or country, and they’ll go and sleep. And that’s why foreigners are coming to invest. People are now waiting for the budget so the country can kick off. It’s the budget that’s slowing down things. And you cannot blame Buhari on the budget, neither can you blame the House of Reps or the Senate on the budget delay because there is fluctuation in the core source of the budget - oil. Today, oil is $29 per barrel; tomorrow it is $27 and before you know it, it comes to $31. But remember, the bench mark is $38. So, how can the budget be approved? Which means the budget, under this present predicament is unrealistic. Buhari was realistic when he made it but the economic decay and collapse has put everybody off balance. But, as I said, he’s fighting, saying corruption must die; his agenda is crusade against corruption. And can you imagine that it’s the same people who wanted to continue to rule us that embezzled 99 percent of the country’s resources, sending the money abroad. Is that not wickedness? For me, it’s a rape of the economy. The past governments raped Nigeria. All of them should be kneeling down with their hands up, apologizing from morning till night that they should be pardoned. They raped our morality, they raped our economy, and they raped our security, they raped our spirituality because they gathered even the men of God to be singing for them, and they were giving them money. It is a holistic rape of a country. The way you often fall out with politicians make people to wonder why you’re against them…Politicians want to make themselves god and I’m serving God. I’m a servant of God. I’m worried when somebody becomes an idol to be worshipped and makes himself a sacred cow that cannot be touched. I’m not against politicians. Politics is not evil, and not all politicians are evil. There’re some good people in politics. I encourage Christians to join politics with good heart; it’s only good people that can change the country. Even if you’re not a Christian, and you’re a good man, join the government."he said

See how Mr Cyril completely got rid of his Type II Diabetes after many years

, by Laura Ikeji

This is a sponsored post. Read below...

This is awesome! Congratulations to this happy family, especially to this young Port Harcourt man who had terrible chronic diabetic condition and almost lost his life in the process. But found a natural way to reverse it completely

Mr Cyril will never forget that day…

He was working overtime with one of the top   banks in Nigeria. They were  understaffed and it was Monday afternoon-the busiest day of the week. His stress was through the roof, his heart was pounding, and

………………………………………… All he remembered was receiving a deposit   slip for payment, and then feeling his knees go weak. He woke up three days later in the hospital, surrounded by his wife and 2 kids.

Their eyes were and puffy from crying.

His wife got the doctor and he gave her the news she was dreading. “Your husband   went into a diabetic coma,” the doctor told his wife. “His blood glucose level was 670mg/dl.” Believe it or not, that was the best news   he heard that day. The doctor cleared his throat like he was nervous   about telling him something.

“Mr Cyril, because your diabetes is so advanced, we’ll   need to remove your legs. I’ve scheduled your surgery for this afternoon.” It was every diabetic’s worst fear:   amputation. “I’m sorry,” the doctor insisted, “but we’ve got no choice. We can give him another 10 years to live, but we have to operate immediately.

” As his wife argued with the doctor, Cyril's short future flashed before his eyes. What about his job? His kids? His family? He didn’t   know how to handle the fact that he would be handicapped.

His wife- the angel that she is – convinced  the doctor to wait 60days before his operation. It only took 7days before he realize just how horrible the situation was. He was   confined to a couch and his family treated him like he was already dead. He kept thinking that he might as well be in a wheelchair!

Depression and fear consumed his life.

He spent hours imagining what life would be like if his diabetes would magically disappear. But he knew that was only fantasy.

Until he found this Natural Solution that has restored hope and sound health to many people. This Natural Solution is a system that lets you reverse and destroy your Type -2 Diabetes in just 30 days!

Are you like that man who just woke up one morning and realized that his world has just been shattered having heard the result of the diagnosis that he is now diabetic? Click on this link to find out how Mr Cyril did it: http://www.surehealthoptions.com/diab.html
