Would your cat let you do this? Trendy cafe launches yoga class for felines

, by Laura Ikeji

These cats look as though they are getting in the zone as they take part in a bizarre yoga class at an upmarket cafe.

In the footage the felines are taking it at their own pace with some sleeping on their owners while others seem to be ignoring them.

Cat lover Anastasia Alexandrova launched the class and thought that both animals and humans would benefit from sharing their yogaworkout together.

She said: "Cats are independent and selfish animals, their moods swing just like those of humans.

"Sometimes they are playful, sometimes calm. Since we were trying to relax in this class, the cats also became relaxed."

Yoga instructor Fyodor Demin said: "We used all groups of muscles as we do a lot of balancing in this class.

"In addition we do cardio-like exercises, such as stretching. This is the best way to stay both in physical and mental shape."

Harmony: Some seem to take part happily

Both said the ten cats used in the class motivated people to do their best.

One of the participants of the training session, Galina Sazonova, shared her experience of the purr-fect workout.

She told Central European News: "I felt in harmony with this world. Happiness, love, joy and calmness.

"Finally I was able to understand myself."

The Russian cat yoga class is not the only one in the world.

Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium in east London is doing a roaring trade with the British capital's moggies.

Its website states: "We’re super excited to be hosting yoga sessions here at Lady Dinah’s.
