Microsoft to warn of official hacks
Users will be alerted if evidence suggests nation-state hackers are targeting them
Microsoft will start warning people if it suspects a government is trying to hack into their email and other online accounts.
Users will be informed if their Outlook, OneDrive and other consumer-facing services ar
e being targeted.
Anyone who received such a warning should take additional steps to keep their data safe, it said.
The move could put it at odds with UK government proposals to limit what tech firms can say about surveillance.
Several other companies, including Twitter, Facebook, Google and Yahoo have previously pledged to alert people about government requests for data.
Data watching
Microsoft said although it already let people know if it believed their accounts had been targeted or compromised by cyber-thieves, it needed to go further if a nation-state was responsible.
It needed to make a distinction because it was "likely that the attack could be more sophisticated or more sustained than attacks from cybercriminals and others", wrote Microsoft's Scott Charney in a blogpost.
Mr Charney added that the notifications would not necessarily mean that attackers had broken into an account. Instead, it could just signify that an account had been targeted
Microsoft said it would not share details of what might lead it to conclude that nation-states were behind an attack but said it would send out the notices if "evidence reasonably suggests" such an entity was responsible.
It added that users should make sure the software on all their devices was up to date, use anti-virus software and scan for malware on all computers and gadgets they regularly used among other steps.
Alerting people about suspected nation-state attacks might cause Microsoft problems in Britain if a proposed law that regulates government snooping is passed.
The draft Investigatory Powers Bill aims to update the way the state, police and spies gather data to fight crime, terrorism and other threats.
Provisions in the law would make it illegal for firms to tell customers they were being targeted if the company did not obtain official permission to do so.
Microsoft declined to comment on whether its notification policy would bring it into conflict with the proposed law.
The software firm's policy announcement comes soon after it was quizzed about why it did not tell victims of a 2011 hacking campaign that it believed China was behind the attack. Instead it just advised the users to change their passwords.

Blackberry to 'exit' Pakistan in 2016
Blackberry launched the Priv Android smartphone in early November
Phone-maker Blackberry is to stop operating in Pakistan at the end of 2015 because of government requests to monitor customer data.
The Pakistani government wanted to be able to monitor every message and email sent via its phones, it said.
In a blogpost, it said it had decided to "exit the market altogether" over the row.
It said Pakistan's demand was not to do with public safety but a request for "unfettered access". Slow decline In July, Pakistan's
Telecommunications Authority told Blackberry the servers underpinning its messaging business would no longer be allowed to operate in the country, citing "security reasons".
Marty Beard, chief operating officer at Blackberry, said the "truth" of the matter was Pakistan had wanted to look at all the traffic passing across
its messaging servers but the phone company would not "comply with that sort of directive". "Remaining in Pakistan would have meant
forfeiting our commitment to protect our users' privacy. That is a compromise we are not willing to make," wrote Mr Beard.
This led Pakistan to tell Blackberry its servers could no longer operate in the country.
Mr Beard said Blackberry did not support "backdoors" that would grant open access to customers'
information and had never complied with such a request anywhere in the world.
"While we recognise the need to cooperate with lawful government investigative requests of criminal activity,
we have never permitted wholesale access to our servers," he said. Mr Beard said the company had regrets over leaving Pakistan because it was an "important market".
Initially, Blackberry said it would wind up its operations at the end of November.
However, the exit date has now been moved to 30 December as the government shutdown deadline has been extended until that date.
Industry figures gathered by analyst company IDC suggest that, in early 2015, Blackberry had a 0.5% share of the global smartphone market.
In 2014, Blackberry shipped about 5.8 million handsets - 70% less than in 2013.

In fact another proof Reekado still does not own a hit track is that an average Nigerian parent who do not follow music still know songs like “Woju” “Bobo”, “Ojuelegba” and “Efejoku”. While i was writing this, i played reekado’s songs to the older generation and they claimed never to have heard them.YBNL VS MAVINThis was actually the most interesting part of the show for those who stayed awake to attend or watch the show.
Now the beef is official and it is part of the bad blood that headies have caused. Olamide was not referring to anybody in particular during Adekunle Gold’s acceptance speech but Don Jazzy had to mention Olamide’s name and the beef became real on twitter with Olamide referring to the Don as a “Bastard”.
Don jazzy should NOT have mentioned Olamide’s name in the first place and saying “he should come and collect the car if he wants”. Now people are taking sides and everyone saw when Olamide threw the microphone away and his beloved “red cup’ he poses with in almost all his music videos. In my own view, It shows how unruly and empty he is intellectually.
Olamide wants to be a Kanye west so bad and he feels he can do anything and go scott free. This was the same guy who cursed Linda Ikeji for reporting a story about his “love child” and claimed it was a rumour till we confirmed it was actually true.
Baba Miliano (Olamide) your alter ego Kanye west started becoming responsible when he gave birth, when will you stop sounding like a thug in your songs and be a role model for those who are watching you? You refer to yourself as a Rapper but i say it to your face that you are now a bloody singer so shut up. I wonder why you where not nominated in the R&B category since you are now a professional singer.
Back to the Mavins, If we look at this from another angle, Reekado needs the car more than Lil kesh since Olamide already bought Kesh a black Range Rover sport around March, 2015. Instead of Jazzy to buy his “children’ (as he refers to his label mates) a car, he will be giving out free recharge card on twitter to buy peoples heart. At least Reekado, Korede and Di’ja will stop going around lagos with Cabs.
It should be noted that Davido is also a major cause of this, he tweeted it some months back that Lil Kesh should pull a “Kanye” on Headies if he does not win. Kesh was probably too timid so his oga OluwaKanye Olamide did the dirty job and refered to that as “Fighting for the poor boy”
In conclusionAll Nigerian artiste and producers, do not place your hope on the Headies which should now be referred to as “The Leggings”. Do not say because you where not recognized it means you are not trying, keep doing what you are doing and let the headies keep on doing what they are known for – NONSENSE.. !!!

Twitter 'confuses' man with IS leader
Twitter recently tightened its rules for users
An Arab Spring activist says his Twitter account was suspended after administrators mistook him for the leader of the so-called Islamic State.
Iyad El-Baghdadi said his account was suspended for about half an hour.
Mr El-Baghdadi had been misidentified as IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in Indonesian newspaper Republika and the New York Post.
He has more than 70,000 Twitter followers and frequently mocks IS. Twitter has made no comment.
Twitter recently updated its rules on "abusive behaviour and hateful conduct" in a bid to better protect users. It has been criticised for not doing enough to stop IS using the platform for propaganda purposes.
The company says users are not allowed to threaten or promote terrorism.
Mr El Baghdadi told the BBC he received a message from Twitter saying he had "violated" its rules but not specifying the offence. He has accused Twitter of being racist.
"I don't think a single Arab country exists that doesn't have a family with the surname El-Baghdadi," he tweeted.
The activist, who also researches radicalisation, said the alleged incident raised questions about Twitter's security processes. He said the company needed to be "more transparent" about why and how people are suspended.
Twitter should "engage power users who deal with trolls regularly", he added.
The company does not comment on individual users' cases for privacy reasons.

New elements added to Periodic table
Kosuke Morita led the Japanese team at the Riken Institute
Four chemical elements have been formally added to the periodic table, completing the scheme's seventh row.
They are the first to be included in the table since 2011, when elements 114 and 116 were added.
The first true iteration of the table was produced in 1869 by the Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleev.
The new additions were formally verified by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) on 30 December 2015.
The body announced that a team of Russian and American researchers had provided sufficient evidence to claim the discovery of elements 115, 117 and 118.
IUPAC awarded credit for the discovery of element 113 to a Japanese team at the Riken Institute.
The teams responsible for the discoveries have been invited to come up with permanent names and chemical symbols for the now-confirmed elements.
"The chemistry community is eager to see its most cherished table finally being completed down to the seventh row. IUPAC has now initiated the process of formalising names and symbols for these elements," said Prof Jan Reedijk, president of the inorganic chemistry division of IUPAC.
New elements can be named after a mythological concept, a mineral, a place or country, a property or a scientist.
After the responsible IUPAC division accepts the new names and two-letter symbols, they will be presented for public review for five months.
The chemistry organisation's council will then make a final decision.

CLOSE HOME NEWS SECTIONS METRO PLUS BUSINESS EDITORIAL OPINION COLUMNIST Home News News Bayelsa rerun: Police summon ex-militants, others to meeting January 3, 2016 2819 The police authorities in Bayelsa State have invited ex-militant leaders to a meeting ahead of the state governorship election rerun rescheduled to Saturday, SUNDAY PUNCH has learnt. The meeting is to hold on Monday. Also summoned to the parley, it was learnt, were some supporters of the All Progressives Congress and other stakeholders in the state. It could not be ascertained why the meeting was summoned but it was learnt that it was not unconnected with the widespread violence and ballot box snatching that marred the poll in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state on December 6, 2015. The irregularities in Southern Ijaw were said to have been orchestrated by some ex-militant leaders in tandem with compromised security operatives. A security source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the meeting, which would take place in a yet-to-be-known venue in Yenagoa, was summoned by the state Police Command. It was gathered that apart from the ex-agitators, the invitation was extended to the relevant stakeholders in the state. However, the invitation was said to be generating tension in the Peoples Democratic Party camp, as the party’s supporters felt they were left out of the planned meeting. The police, in a copy of the invitation letter dated December 31, 2015, and sent to one of the ex-militant leaders, Eris Paul, popularly known as Ogunboss, asked the former agitators to appear on January 4. The meeting was summoned by the state police command through the Office of the State Intelligence Bureau led by Ondo Gbekumo. The contents of the letter indicated that attendance to the meeting was compulsory. The letter stated, “The attendance to the meeting by ex-militant leaders is mandatory as issues bordering on threat to security on the January 9, 2016 election will be discussed.” Also invited to the meeting was Mr. Africanus Ukparasia, popularly known as ‘General’ Africa, who openly supported President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 Presidential election. Ogunboss however dismissed the invitation. He said, “When did we become members of the state security agencies to be invited to security meeting? Nothing annoys me so much as receiving the invitation from a relative of Governor Seriake, Ondo Gbekumo.” The state Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswat, confirmed that the ex-militant leaders were formally invited as part of the stakeholders. He also frowned at the allocation of N47.7 billion for the purchase of vehicles by the National Assembly even after the lawmakers had collected car loans from the government. The president, who expressed his readiness to negotiate with any credible leadership of the Boko Haram sect for the release of the kidnapped Chibok girls also disclosed his readiness to consider a ban on the use of hijab should the trend of bombing through young veiled girls continue. Noting the dire economic conditions facing the country, President Buhari was, nevertheless, against the immediate devaluation of the naira even as he revealed that N1.5 trillion had been recovered into the federation account through the implementation of the Treasury Single Account. The president also spoke on the fate of the Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, saying that he had allowed the Kaduna State government and the military authorities to take the lead in the investigations. He affirmed that the cleric had over time overstepped his bounds to the distress of the communities he lived. On the panel that interviewed the president yesterday were Kayode Akintemi, Channels TV; Dr. Ngozi Anyaegbulam, Media World International; Munir Dan Ali, Daily Trust and Ibanga Isine, Premium Times. On the ministers "I don't think I tolerate corruption, I don't think I picked anybody that I know will embarrass my government. Tell me one out of the 36. I don't think I will deliberately make that mistake." Asked if he would sack any of the ministers if he or she is charged to court for corruption, he said: "No, I will insist that the case go through the courts." On the location and condition of the Chibok girls, he said he would be prepared to negotiate with credible elements in the Boko Haram leadership if there is precise intelligence that could help return the girls to their parents. He, however, affirmed that presently he did not superior intelligence on the fate of the girls. "We are still keeping our options open. If a credible leadership of Boko Haram can be established and they tell us where those girls are, we are prepared to negotiate with them without any pre-condition. This we have made absolutely clear. But while they are keeping the Chibok girls, they must not get away with the idea that we will not attempt to secure the rest of Nigeria. "We have no firm intelligence on where they are physically and what condition they are in. But what we believe from our intelligence, they keep taking the girls around, they are not keeping all the girls in one place, we don't know how many divisions they made of them and where they are. On the crisis in Kaduna involving followers of the Shite leader, Sheikh El-Zakzaky, he said: "I expect the Kaduna State Government to set up a judicial inquiry because it happened in Kaduna, in one of the cities and it has been there for the last twenty years from what I have been reading from papers. They will occupy a federal highway, sometimes from Kano to Kaduna. This is what I heard. "We have a system of investigation, the military that was involved too have a tradition of investigation and I am the head of the federal government, I have to wait for the official report before I can come out as head of the federal government and make a statement. So I am allowing the Army and the Kaduna State government to submit their report of inquiry. Meanwhile it does not mean that the police, the SSS and other directorate involved are not doing their own part of constitutional role. Frowning at the activities of the group, he said: "Unfortunately it is very serious. How can any group proclaim statehood in a state? I don't want to speak about it in details now, I better leave it still after the report of the inquiry but there are a number of clips I saw, where some excited teenagers were visually hitting the chest of a general, mounting road blocks and threatening them with missiles. While expressing his appreciation, LilKesh
prostrated before Olamide who then took the mic
and said; "This award belongs to Lil Kesh. Lil

single was a hit back to back. From lyrically to
Shoki to Efejoku. Ko ni dafun Iya anybody", he
then threw the mic down and they all walked off
the stage.
After Olamide's speech, Don Jazzy won The
lifetime Achievement Award & while taking his
award, he addressed Olamide's rant on stage. He
said "Egbon Olamide, if you want the car, come

Domain wapka says "Set DNS servers for your
domain first. (ns1.wapka.mobi,
ns2.wapka.mobi)" don't worry then after a few
moment then again and again click Set Own
Domain. When set up your .tk domain then visit
your .tk domain after a few minute.First
time,your .tk domain see wrong etc don't worry
again visit after a few minute and you will
capable of visit your site correctly.
